"I like to embrace the transcendence to imperfection in my paintings by eliminating distracting or unnecessary areas is one of the most important aspects of her creative process, conjuring a kind of elemental alchemy that reveals precious forms of colour with understated elegance"

Amica Aindow

Amica is an artist whose paintings transcend the everyday and channel the eternal.

Translating the energy of chaos into calm, she embraces transcience and imperfection into an ephemeral feeling of natural simplicity and beauty. She works intuitively using air and gravity over many hours at a time, preferring fluid media like ink and sometimes incorporating smoke, whisky, and coffee. She harnesses the Japanese concept of “Ma”, meaning the space between, paring her work to its simplest form without losing its poetry. Eliminating distracting or unnecessary areas is one of the most important aspects of her creative process, conjuring a kind of elemental alchemy that reveals precious forms of colour with understated elegance.

Based in Queensland, Australia, her work has been profiled on Grand Designs, The Block,  Country Living, Art Edit and Home Design and features in several public collections, including The Star Casino and The Crown Towers, Sydney.
